Hike to the Broadway Cave in the Superstition Wilderness, Arizona.
From the small parking area at the Broadway Road Trailhead, the trail start is just to your left if you are facing the Superstition Mountains. The trail starts out headed directly for the ridgeline through the common cacti seen in this area: Saguaro, Prickly Pear, and Cholla. The trail, though rocky along this section, is easy to follow and pretty flat.
After about 0.5 miles of hiking on the Jacobs Crosscut trail, you'll reach the junction with the trail that leads to the Lost Goldmine trail. Stay left at this signed junction (JCT_1L on the map) to stay on the Jacobs Crosscut trail. After another 0.6 miles of hiking, you will leave the main trail and take an unsigned trail straight ahead (JCT_2ST on the map). If you look straight ahead at this trail junction, you can see your target of the Broadway cave high above you. After an additional 0.5 miles of hiking, you'll reach a large cairn (JCT_3R on the map). Turn right at this cairn and follow an unmarked trail as it climbs more steeply towards the cave. Keep an eye out for the cairns as this trail (especially on the descent) to stay on the rough trail. Hiking 0.4 miles on this trail will get you to the Broadway Cave.
The cave has some great views of the surrounding desert and the encroaching civilization of the Phoenix metropolitan area.
When ready, return the way you came.
