North Mountain Nature trail loop hike - Casa Grande
Location
From the Phoenix area, take I-10 South to the McCartney exit. Head east on this road until you reach the signed turn for Cox road. Turn left here and follow this road North into the signed North Mountain park. The road soon turns to well graded dirt. Follow the signs to get to the park. The dirt roads can be a bit of a maze here, so keep an eye out for the signs that will point you in the right direction for the park and the hiking trail. The trail start is just to the left of Ramada #2. There is no water here, but there are primitive pit toilets.

Hike along the North Mountain nature trail near Casa Grande, Arizona.
If you're looking for an easy hike in the desert in the Casa Grande area, this is a good one. Out of town visitors would really enjoy this gentle introduction to hiking in the desert.
Hopefully you were able to find the signed trailhead without too much trouble. We hiked this trail in the clockwise direction, since it was easier to stay on trail, since there are a number of washes and a couple of dirt roads this trail crosses. So from the signed trailhead and map, head left on the dirt trail. It's pretty easy to follow this trail, but be careful you don't get detoured on the numerous small washes that look like trails. Some of the desert plans have signs to mark them, which would make this interesting for out of town visitors. The hike loops through this desert area, crossing a few short but pretty foot bridges before meeting back to the trailhead start.
