From the Phoenix area, take I-17 North to the Munds Park exit (#322). Take the exit East through the pinewood subdivision. After about 2.2 miles of driving, the pavement ends. Look for a sign on the right showing the distance to Casner park. If you look carefully, you will see the Crystal Point trailhead on the right just past this sign. Don't park here though. Drive another 0.2 miles to the parking area on the left and cross the road to get to another signed trail to the Crystal Point trailhead. ]]></c:value>

From the Flagstaff area, take HWY-180 towards the Grand Canyon. About 2 miles out of Flagstaff, turn right onto the signed Schultz Pass Road. After 0.3 miles, this road makes a sharp left turn (going straight will put you on the Elden Lookout Road). Continue on this well graded dirt road for 4.1 miles (4.4 miles total from HWY-180). You will have reached the trailhead when you see a prominent gate in the valley to your right. There is not much parking here, but there is a small pullout on your right very near the gate. ]]></c:value>

Follow the sign pointing to the right for the Kachina Trail.

For the short hike shuttle: Take the road leading to Snowbowl Ski resort as mentioned above. Drive 2.4 miles and turn right onto Freidlein Prairie Road (FR522). This road is signed, but you cannot see the sign from the road, so pay attention to your odometer. Drive this dirt road 4 miles to the Freidlein trailhead access to the Kachina Trail. FR522 is quite rocky, so a high clearance vehicle would be helpful here.

For the longer hike shuttle: From HWY-180, turn right onto Schultz Pass Road (FR42). Schultz Pass Road is located between mileposts 218 and 219, about 4.4 miles south-east from the turn-off to the Snowbowl Ski Resort towards Flagstaff. Once on Schultz Pass road, you will quickly reach a junction with Elden Lookout Road (FR557) turning off to the right. Stay left to remain on Schultz Pass Road. Go 5.5 miles to the Weatherford Trail parking area on your right (the trailhead is signed on the left side of the road). Schultz Pass road is a rocky dirt road in good enough shape for most vehicles. ]]></c:value>

To get to the trailhead: from the Flagstaff area, take HWY-66 West out of town, turning South (left) onto Woody Mt Road (FR231). This road starts off as paved. Soon after it passes over I-40, the road turns into good graded dirt. Follow this road 14 miles to FR538. Make a right turn onto FR538 and take it 5.7 miles to FR538E. At this point, the road turns a bit nasty... high clearance vehicles recommended. Turn right on FR538E and go 0.4 miles to FR538G. Stay right on FR538G for 1.0 miles (VERY NASTY ROAD) and turn left at the sign for Kelsey Spring trail, going the last 0.4 miles to the well signed trailhead. ]]></c:value>

To get to the trailhead: from the Phoenix area, take I-17 North toward Flagstaff, AZ. Once in Flagstaff, take HWY #180 towards the Grand Canyon. About 14 miles from Flagstaff, turn left on FR 245, which is very close to mile marker 230. After going 3.1 miles on this flat, graded dirt road, turn right on FR 171 (signed for the Kendrick trail). After driving 3.1 miles on FR 171, turn right onto FR 190. Go another 0.5 miles to the trailhead. This road may be impassable to some cars after heavy rains, so use good judgment. The trailhead has a restroom but no water.]]></c:value>
