Hike to the Agate House and Long Logs in the petrified forest national park, Arizona.
These are actually two hikes, both accessed by a 0.5 mile walk from the Rainbow Forest Museum at the South entrance. To get to the trailhead, follow the signs for the Agate House trail, which crosses the main road to the south-east. After 0.5 miles, you will reach the old parking area (now closed to cars) for the Long Logs trail and the Agate House trail. The Agate House trail is another 0.5 miles from the old parking area to an impressive partially restored pueblo made from the native petrified rock.
The Long Logs trail is a 0.6 mile loop trail that also starts from the old parking area. This area consists of the largest collection of petrified rock in the park.
Both trails are well marked and there is plenty to see. Enjoy!
Don't take any of the petrified wood here, please leave it for future generations to enjoy.
